Jonathan Begs Assu

President Jonathan has once again called on Assu to call off strike.Jonathan, who was represented by the Coordinating Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, at the 29th convocation of the University of Ilorin on Wednesday, said the Federal Government wou ld systematically continue to address challenges of the university system. According to him, the Federal Government has increased the budget of education from N234.8bn in 2010 to N426.5bn in 2013. He added that the FG in 2013 allocated N55.74bn to the university sub-sector alone. Jonathan also said FG had released N130bn to universities for infrastructural development and payment of earned allowances to staff of universities. He added that the government was seriously working on the best ways to ensure the implementation of the Report of the Needs Assessment Committee for Universities. “I wish to once again call on ASUU to allow reason to prevail by immediately calling off their ongoing strike action in the interest of the nation and our children while government systematically continues to address the myriads of challenges facing our university system. “I call on the university teachers to work with the government to make our universities centres of excellence,” Jonathan said

The long awaited Blackberry Messenger on iphone and Android finally arrives.BlackBerry rolled out the official BBM app for Android and iOS after numerous delays, and has had over 5 million downloads in the first eight hours. The company said in a blog post said that the free BBM apps will start showing up in Google Play, Apple App Store and some Samsung App Stores.However, due to high demand for the app BlackBerry has been limiting access.

Oduah Takes Steps To Prevent Sack

The embattled  Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, has commenced last- ditch efforts to save her job.

Sources revealed that she  had  used the last few days seeking  private audience with  President Goodluck Jonathan.

The NCAA spent   a whopping $1.6m(N225m) on the two cars which market value is N36m each.

A  very reliable Presidency source, who disclosed Oduah’s visit to the Villa, said she “wanted to explain herself to the President, who like every Nigerian, was embarrassed by the media reports and the evidence of the purchase of the two cars at an outrageous sum of N225m.”.      However, the source dismissed speculations that Oduah, who is to appear before the Senate this week over the crisis facing the Aviation industry,  was at the Villa to beg the President to prevent possible sanctions.
