”Why I Don’t Rush To Visit Violence-hit Areas” – President Buhari Reveals

Following the mounting criticism that currently trailing him, the President told critics of his delayed visit to trouble spots yesterday that he has his way of monitoring developments instead of “rushing” to crises spots and “making noise”.

President Muhammadu Buhari spoke in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, during his visit to assess the situation in the state and condole with victims of violence.

No fewer than 200 people are believed to have been killed in communal disputes, herders/farmers clashes and others in the state.

Many of the dead were buried in mass graves. Many are injured and hospitalised. Others have been forced out of their homes.

US Says- Nigeria’s 2019 General Elections Is Our Topmost Priority

The United States of America has said that Nigeria’s 2019 general election and a peaceful transition in government remains its major priority.

The US Department of State said this during a briefing on the first trip of Rex Tillerson, US secretary of state, to Africa.

It said the election is its priority in view of the country’s strategic position in the African region.

The department expressed hope that African countries currently with democratically elected governments will not have transitions through undemocratic means.

Big Brother Naija 2018 most controversial housemate, Cee-C on Sunday professed love for fellow housemate, Tobi.

Cee C and Tobi have been in an on-off relationship since the reality show started, in a letter she wrote to Tobi before the eviction show, Cee-C said, “I love you” regardless of how “many times you put me up for eviction” and make the “world think I’m troublesome.”

The letter reads, “You don’t expect people to understand who you really are, regardless I love you. No matter how many times you put me up for eviction and use abuse words on me, tell the world about how troublesome you think I am.”

Tobi was Cee C’s first strategic partner and the pair were first caught making love in the house.

Both housemates were caught again on camera kissing. However, their relationship took a dramatic twist when Tobi nominated Cee-C for eviction. Both housemates seem to have made up after this however.

Bad leadership has turned Nigerians into beggars - Legal Icon, Afe Babalola

Legal Icon and Senior Advocate, Chief Afe Babalola, has attributed the pervasive poverty and hunger in Nigeria to bad leadership.



Babalola, who said the culture of begging was alien to the Yoruba race in the past, lamented that bad leadership has turned virtually all Nigerians into beggars, particularly in southwest Nigeria.



In a chat with Vanguard, the founder of  Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, ABUAD, said the Yoruba people had deep resentment for begging in the 40s and 50s, adding that ”today, they have seen begging as a way of life, contrary to what they believed in , because of poverty caused by bad governance.”



Babalola said this in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, when the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, PCN, paid a visit to ABUAD on assessment tour of the Pharmacy Department of the newly commissioned 400-bed Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, ABUTH.



He said: “today, Nigeria is at a crossroad. The Yoruba were not used to begging in the 40s and 50s, they used to stone beggars because they viewed it as a shameful act.  But today, go to occasions and see how well dressed people beg for money. That was why we want to join the change agents using our university as a model even ABUAD is synonymous with change.
