Forgive Me For Your Jail Terms- Lamido Begs Sons

Former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has asked his sons who were arraigned with him on charges of corruption to forgive him over their prison experience, as he claimed total responsibility for their ordeal in the hands of the law. In an interview with international radio station, VOA Hausa service, Lamido described his arrest as the beginning of restoration of confidence in political leadership in Nigeria and said he was only being witch-hunted because he is outspoken.
“In the process to improve democracy, there would be some mistakes. I am not a perfect human being; I have my own shortcomings. And in my own case, I’m outspoken, which perhaps explained why people found me too offensive and irritating”.
Lamido explained that his pains weren’t his detention, but that of his sons who are innocent but had to suffer simply because their father served as a governor. He admitted he caused their detention and as such they should forgive him and be patient with the situation they found themselves.
He also stated that he has no grudges against anybody over his arrest, and that those who see him as a corrupt person were entitled to their opinions.

Rotimi Amaechi’s Wife In A Multi-billion Naira Corruption Scandal- Nigerian Times

As President Muhammadu Buhari heads to Washington to beg the Americans to help out with his much vaunted anti-corruption war, insiders are cringing at the composition of his delegation. Rotimi Amaechi was personally selected by the president. Nigerian Times’ checks at the villa showed that the president may not be aware of the existence of the dossier but the Americans know and may not take Buhari’s anti-corruption paean seriously.Amaechi – Buhari
Nigerian Times learnt in the weekend that the dossier itself is less than sixty days old. As the story goes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had received a petition sometime in February this year. The petition detailed the various financial dealings of Mrs Amaechi and how aided by her husband, she had looted the Rivers State treasury of billions of naira.

Writer Joseph Edgar Replies Etcetera 'Your Last Article Is Nothing But Stupid'

I have never read any of this persons articles because I see him as an unabashed seeker of relevance especially where his failure in his original calling is so apparent, so to keep in the public eye, he resorts to penning shallow and not carefully thought out nonsense which only tickles the fancy of the barely literate and ignorant people like himself.

Man sells son for N100K

Neighbours of 40-year-old Monday Okon Inyang, are in shock, following news of his alleged attempt to sell his 11-year-old son, David Monday Inyang, for the sum N100,000 to an Alhaji in the Bogobiri area of the state capital.
Operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Cross River State Police Command, arrested the suspect, when the supposed buyer, (name concealed), demonstrated patriotism and aversion to child trafficking by alerting the police that Inyang, who hails from Itu Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, had offered to sell his son to him.

The sordid story began in June, 2015, when the young boy voluntarily confessed to his father that he was bewitched and possessed by an evil spirit, which had worked through him to cause his misfortune. He also begged the father to forgive him for all the trouble he had unwittingly caused him, while under the influence of the evil spirit.

An elder in the neighbourhood, Mr. Bassey Joseph, who spoke with Sunday Sunexpressed discomfiture over the incident. He said:
“It is quite unfortunate that such ugly incident occurred in our community. The boy confessed to the father he is a wizard, and he took him to various churches for prayer and deliverance. He even took him to some herbalists to exorcise the evil spirit.”
But somehow, the devil added a dangerous twist to the ugly situation, and planted an evil idea in the head of his father, who decided to sell him off, and subsequently approached the Alhaji on June 22, 2015, to consummate the intent.

As Sunday Sun gathered from the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Mr Henry Fadairo, while pretending to be interested in the proposal Alhaji struck a “deal” with Inyang, agreeing to “buy” the boy. With the agreement reached, he told Inyang to wait briefly for him to get to the bank and withdraw the agreed sum of N100,000. Quickly, he ran to the Police Area Commander for Akim and reported what transpired between him and Inyang.

Immediately, police detectives followed him to his office, where they arrested Inyang and took him along with his son, to the office of the Commissioner of Police. The boy recounted to the Fadairo how he had confessed to his father that he was a wizard and appealed to him for forgiveness.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Calabar, Mr. Ganiyu Salami disclosed that the suspect had confessed that he attempted to sell his son, added that the matter was still being investigated.

Feeling very fortunate that providence used the Alhaji to thwart his father’s attempt to sell him, the boy expressed strong desire not to be allowed to return to his father, if the police resolved to grant his father bail.
The community elder, Joseph, said neighbours in the community fully concurred with the boy’s desire. Their position won over the police, who then released the boy into the custody of the father’s younger brother.
In a chat with Sunday Sun, the suspect said that he was still unable to explain how he took the horrible decision to sell his son . He said:
“I don’t know what came over me. I am still dazed. My wife left me in 2005 and abandoned our four children, when I had a major problem. I have one boy and three girls. I am struggling to survive. David confessed to me that he was a wizard and the cause of my agony in life.
He pleaded for forgiveness. As a concerned father, I took him to various churches and traditional herbalists to cure him. Really, I don’t know what happened to me and I decided to take my son to one Alhaji in Bogobiri area, of Calabar and sold him for N100,000.00 naira to him. While I was waiting for the money, Alhaji came with policemen to arrest me in his office. I have regretted what I have done. When my son confessed, I should have forgiven him. It was wickedness that landed me into this problem. I pray that my son would forgive me for the evil thing I tried to do, by wanting to sell him.”

Buhari will probe Jonathan’s govt – Presidency

The presidency has confirmed it will probe past president Goodluck  Jonathan's government. This was revealed by the Special Adviser on media to president Buhari ,Femi Adeshina..Speaking on an interview with Vanguard, when asked why past government officials were allowed to leave the country if there was any intention to probe them, he said
He has said it that money in billions of dollars will be recovered. But you know the world is too small a place for anybody to hide if you are running from justice. The world is too small a place to hide. You will be fished out. So, there is no need that you say they should not be heading for jail if eventually the law goes after them. Very few countries can they hide in and how long will they hide? So, it doesn’t mean that anybody that has ill gotten wealth will not regurgitate it. They will. Remember when he went to Germany for the G7 summit, he met with President Obama and Obama told him to just give us information on where the loot is hidden and we will help you recover it and the government has been working on that. So, that shows that looters will never go free.
Is he going backwards? I mean where is he going to start to probe?
He can’t afford to go too deep into the past or else it will be destructive for his administration. There are some things you can’t close your eyes to while you don’t want to shine the torchlight into the dark recesses of our past; immediate past where things are evident. The Yoruba have a saying that the corpse we buried, the leg is sticking out and, if you bury a corpse and the leg is sticking out, you can’t pretend.
When there are trails all over of the monies in billions and trillions, then a responsible government can’t close its eyes to that.
On Boko Haram intensifying it's attacks under this administration

Let me draw an analogy. One day, the world woke up to hear that Osama bin Laden had been killed by the US Navy Seals. But did you know how long it took to plan that operation? It took 24 months of painstaking planning. Drills, simulations, all that happened until they got him. I am not saying it is going to take 24 months before this government breaks the back of Boko Haram. I am just telling you that planning needs to be carefully done and that is what is being done. In his very first week in office, he went to Niger, Chad and why did he go? Because of this Boko Haram thing and one major reason he went to G7 is because of the Boko Haram issue because the leaders of G7 said ‘come and let us know what we can do to help’. After that, the leaders of Chad, Niger, Benin Republic, Defence Minister of Cameroon also came here under the Lake Chad Basin Commission. They are planning. Before the end of this month, after he comes back from America, he is going to Cameroon and why is he going there? Still on Boko Haram and you know there is a multinational task force they are
contributing to and Nigeria has released 21 million dollars for the joint task force. That is money Nigeria can use in other areas but it has invested 21 million dollars in that joint task force. That shows seriousness and I think July 21 has been picked as a date for that force to swing into action. Nobody can fairly accuse this government of not doing anything about Boko Haram. It is doing a lot and, eventually, we will see the end of insurgency.

DSS detains former president Jonathan's Chief Security Officer

There are reports that the DSS has detained the Chief Security Officer to former President Jonathan, Gordon Obua. According to a report by Punch, Obua was arrested and detained on Thursday July 16 as part of measures by the new administration to probe officials who worked under GEJ’s. The order for his arrest was given by President Buhari.

The reason for the detention of the former CSO is not immediately known but a source told Punch that investigators maybe trying to gather info on key officials in Jonathan’s government from Obua

“The arrest and detention of the former CSO is an indication that every former minister or senior official under Jonathan’s government are not exempted from probe except those that have no criminal suspicion or record of wrong doing in office,” a source explained
