US Vows To Block Stolen Nigerian Funds From American Banks

The United States has promised to ensure no stolen public funds from Nigeria are laundered through American banks.
The outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, said on Saturday that the Obama administration was committed to stand with Nigeria in its fight against corruption, particularly by ensuring no stolen funds are laundered through the American banking system.
Mr. Entwistle said the U.S. government has offered technical assistance to Nigeria’s anti-graft agencies for the training of investigators and prosecutors.
The diplomat, speaking at the 240th United States Independence Anniversary celebration cocktail party in Abuja, said his country looked forward to deeper cooperation with the Nigerian government to ensure freedom for Nigerians.
“Not just the political freedom you exercised last year, but freedom from fear, freedom from want, freedom from sickness, and freedom from corruption. The last election was tremendous democratic success, not only for Nigeria, but the growth of democracy across Africa.
“As you fight Boko Haram and secure and rebuild the Northeast, and you strive for harmony in the Niger Delta and across the land, we will continue to help in every appropriate way.
“Indeed, let us redouble our efforts on the humanitarian front in the Northeast. Nigerians are dying of starvation in Nigeria.
“The United States stands with every Nigerian who believes that Nigeria can be healthier, safer, and more prosperous,” he said.

Don’t Be Deceived, There’s No Absolute Immunity For Presidents, Governors In The Constitution – Falana

Human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana, has stated that Nigeria’s Constitution does not guarantee absolute freedom for the President, Vice President, governors and their deputies, against all forms of criminal acts.

While speaking on the topic:”Limit of Executive Immunity,” at an event in Benin, Edo State, to mark the 60th birthday of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Julius Ihonvebere, he said there are Supreme Court decisions that said their immunity cannot be extended to certain criminal acts.

He faulted those who criticised the freezing of the personal account of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose and the current prosecution of the leadership of the Senate over allegation of forgery.

He disclosed that the Supreme Court has also ruled that the Attorney-General of the Federation can direct the Attorney-General of a state to investigate allegation of public money being stolen in states, even if the money belonged to the state.

I Will Not Pay Okoroji A Dime, Neither Will I Apologise- Onyeka

Popular singer andPopular singer and immediate past Director General of the National Center for Women Development, Ms. Onyeka Onwenu, has reacted to the judgment delivered against her by a judge of the Ikeja High Court, Justice I. O. Akinkugbe, in a suit instituted against her by Chief Tony Okoroji for defamation of character asking her to pay the sum of N5m and tender an apology to Okoroji. According to Onyeka, she has done no wrong and won’t be paying a dime or apologising to Okoroji. Here’s what Onyeka said in a chat with Sunday Scoop.

“The judgment given by Justice Akinkugbe is most unfair and cannot stand.  Throughout the trial, the plaintiff’s lawyer kept referring to the fact that I was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and my appointment to office as Director General of the PDP but that I was serving under an APC Government.

“My lawyer raised an objection as we did not think that my party affiliations had anything to do with the case at hand. But the judge to our consternation allowed that line of questioning. I am waiting to receive a copy of the judgment, at which point I will have more to say. For now, I am certain that this judgment cannot and will not hold based on the fact that we were able dismiss the allegations convincingly and unequivocally. We are appealing the judgement, of course.”

Speaking further, Onyeka said she would not apologise as ordered by the court.

“I will not apologise and I will not pay any fine. I am guilty of nothing. We have a country where one is allowed to pursue justice and, by God’s grace, justice will be served. If not by Justice Akinkugbe, then certainly by an Appeal Court or even the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”

Abia Election Saga Plunges As Third Contender Emerges

The crisis in Abia election has taken a new turn as the confusion, triggered by Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, who obtained a court order which sacked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and affirmed him as governor-elect, expanded, at the weekend, as the third contender to the Abia governorship emerged.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the state, Friday Nwosu, filed a suit against the judgment of the Federal High Court which declared Ogah as governor-elect.

Nwosu averred that the court, having disqualified Ikpeazu as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Abia in the 2015 polls, should have declared him as governor-elect and not Ogah.

In his Suit No.FHC/ABJ/CS/71/2016, filed at the Federal High Court, Owerri against Ogah, the PDP, Ikpeazu, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nwosu is seeking five reliefs: “An order setting aside the declaration of the 1st respondent, Uche Ogah, as the elected governor of Abia State as declared by the trial court, an order that the 1st respondent is stopped from claiming any right or benefit from the 2nd respondent’s (PDP) gubernatorial primary election of 8/12/2014 in Abia State having waived his right to do so; an order striking out the 1st respondent’s (Uche Ogah)’s suit on the ground that it constitutes an abuse of court process; an order that the suit of 1st respondent i.e. (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/71/2016) is incompetent and the trial court lacks the jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit.”

He further stated: “The judgment is in error and cannot stand judicial scrutiny. Dr. Uche Ogah should not be allowed to benefit from an exercise he totally condemned by refusing to sign the result and petitioning the party to conduct another primary election. He should wait for the rerun of the PDP primary which he prayed for in his petition to the party. In the eyes of the law, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and Sir Friday Nwosu were the only candidates who ran for the party primary. Since Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has been disqualified, I remain the lawful candidate of the PDP and ought to be declared governor.”

Justice A.I. Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Owerri has fixed tomorrow and Tuesday to hear Nwosu’s suit against Ikpeazu and Ogah.

Nigerians Now Exchange Their Kids, Clothes For Food To Survive Hard Times

A new report on Punch reveal some Nigerians, just to survive the hard times, are now exchanging their kids, clothes for food.

Ibrahim Bala, five, ran around the premises in company with other children as they engaged each other in a game of hide and seek. Naive and harmless, the little boy jumped about with utmost joy as the play increased in momentum. His charm was infectious.

But the toddler could have been in a different situation now if not for sheer luck. Last Sunday, his father, Yusuf, used him as collateral for a bag of 50 kilogram rice at a popular market in Kano after being unable to provide for his family anymore. The middle-aged man after agreeing price with the seller, Alhaji Suleiman Bagudu, had left his son behind and went away with the bag of rice to fetch the money he claimed to have forgotten at home.

Osama Bin Laden’s Successor Threatens America

Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri has warned the United States of the "gravest consequences" if Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev or any other Muslim prisoner is executed.

Tsarnaev, named in a new online video message from Zawahri, was sentenced last year to death by lethal injection for the 2013 bomb attack, which killed three people and injured more than 260.

“If the U.S. administration kills our brother the hero Dzhokhar Tsarnaev or any Muslim, it ... will bring America’s nationals the gravest consequences,” Zawahri said.

Zawahri, who became al Qaeda's leader after U.S. forces killed Osama bin Laden in 2011, urged Muslims to take captive as many Westerners as possible, especially those whose countries had joined the "Crusaders' Campaign led by the United States".

The veteran Egyptian-born Islamist, shown wearing white robes and sitting in front of green velvet drapes, said the Western captives could then be exchanged for Muslim prisoners.

Western powers "are criminals and they only understand the language of force", he added.

The nearly hour-long video, which included images of Tsarnaev, gave no indication of the location of Zawahri, believed to be based close to the Afghan-Pakistan border.

Tsarnaev carried out the Boston bombings along with his older brother Tamerlan, who was killed in a confrontation with police soon after.

Tsarnaev is being held at the "Supermax" high-security prison in Florence, Colorado, while his attorneys appeal his death sentence.

Mohammed Opeyemi, owner of an internet cafe on the premises of Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin, Kwara State, was arrested by the security personnel of the institution for a long time been allegedly forging fees clearance documents for the graduating students of the school.

Narrating how the culprit was apprehended on Wednesday, the Rector of Kwarapoly, Alhaji Mas’ud Elelu, said the suspect was caught with a stamp and signature specimen of the approving officer of the audit department of the institution.
Elelu said, “We caught him through our intelligent network. We caught him with some of the stamps and documents he had forged. He had stamps of the audit department and even the signature of the man in audit that normally signs the document.

“That audit paper is always presented before certificates are signed. The procedure is that at the end of payment by graduating students, there is verification, after which the audit department will certify. It is the paper from audit that is attached to the application sent to Exams and Records and then the calligrapher will now write the certificate and send it to the Registrar; then it will come to me as the final person that will sign.

“The document and signature of the person who certifies that a particular student has paid at the audit department are what Opeyemi used to forge. He has the stamp and the signature and we caught him. We have handed him over to the police. They are investigating.”

Elelu said Opeyemi’s cafe had been shut down and that investigations were on to arrest his accomplices.

“The certificates that have been signed or to be signed by him have been stopped,” he added.

Model Goes 'crazy' Strips Naked At Times Square While Screaming About Donald Trump

On Thursday morning police attempted to deal with a naked man who climbed to a ledge in Times Square and started screaming out obscenities and dancing..
He has since been identified as 21-year-old fashion model and Columbia University student Krit McClean., the New York Post reports.

McClean was said to be screaming nonsensically, mostly about Donald Trump, and at one point yelled: 'Donald Trump where are you, Donald Trump where the f*** are you?!'

When cops first approached he screamed, “Get that bitch Debbie, I want to talk to Debbie!”
The crazed man later demanded a meeting withTrump.
Cops blocked off rush-hour traffic in hopes of talking McClean down, to no avail as of 9 a.m.
He was also screaming out about fashion and dropped the names of two iconic fashion photographers.
“I love fashion, it’s taught me so much!”“I love you, Bruce Weber,” the man shouted. “I love you, Mario Testino.”

The man also proclaimed he’s a virgin and loves his mom.
As police tried to talk him down, McClean blew kisses to the crowd, performed a chicken dance and crudely taunted officers — grabbing his privates and shaking his backside at New York’s Finest.

An NYPD spokesman said

Police quickly blew up a giant airbag below in case the man decided to jump from the 16-foot-tall staircase popular with tourists. The troubled man appeared to be conscious and was moaning as paramedics loaded him into an ambulance headed for Bellevue.

This Is The New Tactics Scammers Use On Unsuspecting Victims

Veteran comedian, Ali Baba shared this screenshot while expressing shock that people fall for such scams. He wrote
When you share some messages, like this one, amongst others, the first question I find myself asking is, WHAT IS THE VALUE OF GOING TO SCHOOL? In the first place, was the number that called you withheld? In this days of social media, you can download Whatsapp, twitter, Facebook, snapchat and all the free social apps, but you can not download #truecaller Abi? Let's even leave that.

Is there a bank transfer that is not traceable? In these days of BVN? Is the SIM card not registered? Where have you heard a network provider call you to switch off your phone and leave it turned off? I am tired of people who acquire knowledge yet fail to apply same. Some will ask you for the definition of a word you used in a post and they actually remind you that you have not told them what it means. And they have safari or the likes. Download a dictionary... Nmmmmba! But they can download games that won't save them from scammers. How do you claim to be a graduate that did R&D yet to apply some common sense is a task. The most absurd one I have heard is someone calling a lady and asking for her BVN and ATM card pin and she gave the caller all her details plus home address. Then turns to the boyfriend and starts investigating where he was last night when she called at a particular time and his phone was engaged. Some people will turn on their Jack Bauer mode... But become a blonde in other matters. How do you explain reposting a message that says if #whatsapp broadcast is not shared to 10 people, the Whatsapp features will be blocked? And people fall for it! I bet those are the same people who don't get to read the body of bloggers' headlines. They just see the title and make up the rest of the story. What kind of mental laziness condenses us to such gullible state? What happened to being discerning? Logical and abunnnna? Why don't we read, comprehend and then let our minds or brains filter all the stuff we had taken it through a process of right thinking, before we begin to broadcast our ignorance? How hard is that? I don tayaaaaaa. Oghene Bikooooor!
