You may experience headaches for different reasons, sometimes they just come out of nowhere. They can be the result of your everyday stress. it’s always super tempting to just take a painkiller and hope for the best. You should put in mind though, that painkillers aren’t your only options for pain relief and might not even be the most effective one. I personally don't take pain killers for headache. Try out these natural remedies for headaches the next time you’re suffering from headaches.
Lavender Oil
Lavender Essential oil is a useful home remedy for headaches,not only does it smell great,it also encourages relaxation.This makes it perfect to be used as a sedative or as a calming agent. Lavender oil can either be inhaled or applied topically.Two to four drops in two cups of boiling water ,then inhale the vapor. If you can't sleep because of your headaches,add few drops of lavender oil in warm bathing water and spend some time in the bath breathing deeply. Your body should relax and your headache will ease
Ginger
Ginger is another natural remedy for headache. Ginger has over 200 substances present that all control inflammation and cause your body to release hormones that respond to your headaches. Crush some fresh ginger and boil it in hot water,filter the mix and drink. Another way is to just inhale the vapor of some crushed ginger in hot water.
Basil
Basil works as a muscle relaxant,so it is helpful for headaches caused by tension and tight muscles. Prepare a fresh cup of basil tea. Put fresh basil leaves into a cup and pour boiling water over it and let it sit for few minutes,before you sip.It also works if you chew it fresh. Basil leaf is also known as scent leaf in Nigeria
DIY Scalp Massage
Do It Yourself scalp massage is another effective way to relieve headaches. Researchers in Brazil showed that massaging the greater occipital nerve,which is in the back of the head,at the base of the skull,reduces headaches even migraine pain.
