Mr Chibuzor Eze, who threatened to divorce his wife few weeks ago over her addiction to popular foreign soap opera channels, Telemundo and Zeeworld has dropped the threats earlier made.
Eze, a paediatrician with one of the government hospitals in Abuja, said he had threatened to leave his wife earlier in the month because her addiction to the channels was interfering with their marriage.
The paediatrician, however said on Thursday, that his wife had made an effort to cut down the time she dedicated to the channels and invested more in her marriage.
“I am happy to tell you that my wife has really improved and I enjoy coming home now.
“She eventually listened to me and decided to put the time and energy invested in those channels into our marriage.’’
“She still watches the channels but now that she knows that she has a weakness for them, she sets an alarm to remind her to carry out her tasks and I commend her for the effort,” Eze said.
Eze, who earlier complained of frequently buying food from restaurants because of his wife’s inability to remember to make his dinner, said since he made his threat public, he had dined out once.
He said the dinning came as a way to apologise to his wife for the public humiliation he had caused her.
“Because I am always working, I don’t have the time to sit down and watch Zeeworld and Telemundo so I might never understand why those channels are so addictive.
“I love my wife very much and though we got married at a very young age, we have been married for 14 years so I know her abilities as a wife and a mother.
“Desperate situations call for desperate measures and I had to do what I felt was right for my marriage.
“Those who knew that I had gone to the media about this felt I took it too far, especially as I mentioned my wife’s name and allowed it to be published but I needed her to understand how severe the situation was.
“I didn’t want to come home and meet my house burning because she forgot that she had food on fire while watching a Telemundo show.
“She felt ashamed that her story was out there but I made her see where I was coming from and she made efforts to change so as a reward, I took her on a date to a fancy restaurant just so she would know that I still love and appreciate her,’’ Eze said.
