The ladies, 24-year-old Funmi and her friend, a 27-year-old Shola, both graduates from the Covenant University with degrees in International Relation and currently running their Masters in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
IG User Ginikaokolo and other friends to the young ladies who drowned have been sharing condolence messages on their Social Media. According to their friends, there were no safety measures on ground to rescue them.
