Christina Grimmie Is Dead

A gunman opened fire at a Florida concert venue as singer Christina Grimmie signed autographs for fans after a show, directing a shot at her, Grimmie has finally succumbed to her injuries and has passed on.

A publicist for Christina Grimmie, Heather Walsh announced her death saying; “we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord”.

The Orlando police department also confirmed on its official Twitter page that Grimmie had died. Police said that the 22-year-old singer had performed with the band Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando. The concert ended around 10pm, and Grimmie was shot as she signed autographs for fans at a merchandise table.

Grimmie’s brother immediately tackled the gunman, who then shot and killed himself during the struggle, police said.  The gunman was not identified, and police have not said why he attacked the singer. An investigation is ongoing, but police credited the singer’s brother with preventing the gunman from hurting others.

6 Year-Old Girl Burnt To Death In A Lagos Church While Vigil Was On

The Lagos State Fire Service said a six-year-old girl was burnt to death in a church in the early hours of today in Egbeda. The Director of the service, Mr Rasak Fadipe, said that the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. at Faith Revival Church.

Fadipe said that the inferno affected the boys’ quarters of the church while a vigil was going on at the main auditorium.

“We met the fire raging when we arrived. It was after the fire was put out that we discovered the little girl’s burnt body in one of the rooms.

“The church authority was yet to ascertain the cause of the fire. We finally put out the fire at about 5 a. m,” he said.

The world's shortest couple - who both measure less then three feet tall - have proved that size doesn't matter when it comes to love.

Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros and Katyucia Hoshino, from Brazil, both have forms of dwarfism and stand at 34.8in and 35.2in respectively.
The pair, who hope to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, said they met on a social media website ten years ago and started chatting on MSN Messenger.

Paulo, 30, who has a rare genetic condition called diastrophic dysplasia dwarfism, said it was love at first sight for him.
'I found her very beautiful from the first moment I saw her,' he said
But the attraction wasn't mutual. Katyucia, 26, who has achondroplasia dwarfism, which affects bone growth, initially blocked him on the instant messaging site.
She said: 'The first time I started talking to Paulo, he was really annoying. He had cheap-pick up lines.'
Paulo, who works as a legal secretary, said:
'She thought I was trying to flirt but I was just being nice. According to her I was a really boring guy.'

Metuh Admitted In LUTH For Acute Waist Pain – lawyer

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Olisa Metuh is now on admission at the Lagos University Hospital (LUTH), Lagos two weeks after he left the National Hospital, Abuja where he was once on bed rest.
According to the Nation, his lawyer, Emeka Etiaba (SAN) disclosed this Friday at the resumption of proceedings in Metuh’s trial before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Etiaba, who tendered a letter dated June 8, 2016 to support his position, said Metuh opted for LUTH after following his failure to secure the court’s nod to seek medical care abroad as was recommended by the National Hospital.

The letter from LUTH, signed for Consultant Neurosurgeon by Dr. Olufemi Bankole, said Metuh was under observation and management by the hospital and would need to be confined to bed rest for some time. The letter was silent on the duration of Metuh’s admission.

Metuh last attended proceedings on May 23 when his 4th witness, Anthony Okeke commenced giving evidence. He was to continue the following day, only for Etiaba to inform the court that his client was on admission at the National Hospital and was on bed rest.

British Dad Charged With Murder In Kenya After Woman Died Of Gunshot Wounds At His Mansion

A British dad-of-three has been charged with the murder of a Kenyan woman who died from gunshot wounds at his mansion in Nairobi.

Former Deloitte executive Richard Alden, 52, was arrested after the death of Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui, 42, on June 4 in the city’s affluent Karen district.

The businessman claimed earlier that Ms Kinyanjui accidentally shot herself while taking a ‘selfie’ with his gun , but has since said he was in a different room when the 42-year-old died.

Lawyer Evans Monari, who is no longer working on the case, told journalists outside court earlier in the week that Ms Kinyanjui had been taking selfies when the gun went off.

But today, Mr Alden’s new lawyers Tom Okundi and Cliff Ombeta denied the story and said Mr Alden’s statement did not match.

Mr Ombeta said: “The selfie story is not our position. Our client doesn’t stand by that story. We are waiting for police to give us their version of events.

Bill On Age Reduction For Elective Offices Passes Second Reading

The bill seeking to reduce the age qualifications for the positions of President, governor and senate in the country to 30 years, yesterday successfully passed second reading in the House of Representatives.

The bill, which also makes provision for independent candidacy into the country’s electoral process, further reduces the age qualifications to contest for the House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly to 25 years.

The Bill is an alteration of section 65, 106, 131 and 177 of the 1999 constitution which had prescribed qualification into the office of President to 40 years and above, office of governors and senate, 35 years and above as well as House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly to 25 years and above.

In his lead debate, the sponsor of the bill, Tony Chinedu Nwulu representing Oshodi-Isolo 11 Federal Constituency of Lagos State, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, noted that electing candidates into public offices was an important aspect of democratic practices.

NNPC Loses N20b In One Month Due To Attacks By Niger Delta Avengers

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has disclosed that it lost N20 billion in April due to attacks on Forcados Export Line by the Niger Delta Avengers.

In its Monthly Financial and Operations Report for April released in Abuja on Wednesday, NNPC said its revenue dipped in April by 4.99 per cent to N102.45 billion from N107. 83 billion recorded in March.

It states that the corporation’s expenses also dipped by 3.82 per cent to N121.88 billion compared to N126.72 billion spent in the preceding month. It attributed the drop to pipeline vandalism which forced one of its subsidiaries, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), to undertake a production shut-in, which resulted in the loss of monthly crude oil revenue of N20 billion.

It further blamed the poor performance on losses recorded in the operations of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) from the fuel scarcity recorded during the period.

500,000 Jobs To Open On Saturday- FG

The Federal government has announced the commencement of one of the major social investments of the Muhammadu Buhari administration – the recruitment of 500,000 graduate-teachers.

The recruitment, it said, will open on Saturday, while an internet portal, npower.gov.ng, to be launched that day, will be opened for applicants from Sunday.

The recruitment is part of the programmes in the budget, which the government said yesterday will be fully implemented.

The Presidency said: “Other schemes in the Social Investment Programmes will soon be rolled out in the coming weeks. These include the Conditional Cash Transfer that pays N5,000 monthly to one million Nigerians, the Micro-Credit Scheme for more than 1.5 million Nigerians, the Home Grown School Feeding programme that will serve 5.5 million Nigerian pupils in primary school a free hot meal per day this year and the Education support grant programme for 100,000 tertiary students in Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics, STEM and education.”

Christian Pupils Should Wear Robes Too | Fresh Crisis In Osun Schools Over Hijab

The Christian Association of Nigeria has threatened  to  direct Christian pupils to wear choir robes and other church garments to public schools in Osun State should the state government implements the court judgment on hijab.

Justice Jide Oyelola had last Friday ruled that Muslim female pupils in all public schools should be allowed to wear hijab to schools without any harassment or molestation.
But CAN, in a communique issued at the end of its meeting and signed by its Osun State Chairman, Revd. Elisha Ogundiya, said the association would ask Christian pupils to wear garments associated with church activities to schools if Governor Rauf Aregbesola decided to implement the court verdict.

 A 33-year-old man, Austin Okwuokei, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly claiming to be a policeman and extorting money from motorists.

 PUNCH Metro learnt that the Ogwashi-Uku Delta State indigene was apprehended by policemen attached to the command’s monitoring team last Thursday at the Costain Roundabout, Iponri.
 The suspect allegedly started extorting motorists in the state last year, after arriving from Edo State, where he had his family.

The judge, who was said to have died early yesterday in an hospital in Garki, Abuja, had been reportedly sick for about a month now.

Although the court’s management has not issued a formal statement about judge’s death, many officials of the court confirmed the development.

Before his death, Justice Chukwu was handling major cases such as

School Mistress Disflowers 4 Year Old Pupil With Fingers

A 27-year-old schoolmistress, Violet, is being interrogated by the Police in Lagos for defiling a female pupil of Light Bearers Private School, located at Iyana-Isashi area of the state.
Vaguard newspaper reports that the mistress, who is the class teacher of the nursery two pupil, reportedly defiled her last Thursday, during school hours.

Police Corporal Kills, Buries Inspector Over N300,000

A police corporal, Daramola Tosin, attached to the Ekiti Police Division in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, has been dismissed from the Force for allegedly killing an inspector, Mr. Lateef Shuaib.

Tosin allegedly shot Shuaib after secretly withdrawing up to N300,000 from Shuaib’s bank account without his consent.

It was learnt that Shuaib had entrusted Tosin with his Automated Teller Machine card when he fell ill.
The suspect was said to have initially withdrawn money for the use of the father of two.

$40m Fraud: Jonathan's Cousin Remanded In Kuje Prison

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Azibaola Robert, be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his bail application.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba handed the order today when Mr. Robert and his wife, Stella, were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

EFCC had arraigned the duo on a seven-count charge bordering on money laundering, criminal breach of trust and corruption. Mr. Robert and wife are accused of diverting $40 million purportedly meant for the supply of tactical communication kits for Nigeria’s Special Forces. The funds were alleged to have been transferred from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, with the Central Bank of Nigeria to the domiciliary account of their company, One Plus Holdings

On Sunday the 5th of June 2016 at the Muson Center, Lagos State, Nigeria, a music/comedy show held and Terry G was not among the artiste billed to perform, he begged the organizers until he was told to perform for seven minutes, but he got on stage already tipsy and after about 18 minutes on stage insulting everyone, the organizers asked the DJ to play a different song by another artist, no sooner had the song began to play that Terry G descended on the DJ who was the head DJ of Jatt Incorporated. Beyond assault, The DJ sustained various degree of injury on his face, right in front of the Legendary Dj Jimmy Jatt.

ISIS Burns Alive 19 Women For Refusing Sex

Islamic State terrorists have executed 19 Yazidi girls by putting them in cages and burning them to death, according to reports.

Eyewitnesses said the women, taken by the jihadis as sex slaves, were put in iron cages in central Mosul and burnt alive. A mob of hundreds then watched on as the terrified women slowly died while being consumed by the flames.

Speaking to ARA News , local media activist Abdullah al-Malla said: "They were punished for refusing to have sex with ISIS militants."

Another eyewitness added: “The 19 girls were burned to death, while hundreds of people were watching. Nobody could do anything to save them from the brutal punishment," the witness said.
