9 Police Officers Arrested For Armed Robbery, Kidnapping

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Don Awunah, identified the arrested officers as: ASP Yuguda Abbah, Sgt Habila Sarki, Diphen Nimmyel, Sgt Yasan Danda, Sgt Abbas Mailalle, Sgt Bwanason Tanko, Sgt Donan James, Corporal Idris Salisu and CPL Zakari Kofi.

The dismissed officers were found guilty of unprofessional conduct, aiding and abetting serious crimes like cattle rustling, robbery and kidnapping in the Northeast.


According to the police statement, interrogation and confessions of the dismissed policemen also led to the arrest of principal suspects and recovery of many arms and ammunition.

Isaac Sekav Ahungwa who rode on a bicycle from Ibadan, Oyo State to Makurdi after completing his National Youth Service, has been offered automatic employment by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.

Ortom announced this Monday when he received Ahungwa at the state government house in Makurdi.

He described the young man as a determined son of the state whose example should be emulated by others.

Toyin Aimakhu’s ex-boyfriend Seun Egbegbe was allegedly caught in Computer Village, Lagos while trying to run away with stolen Iphones.

According to PCM, Egbegbe came inside Computer village with some guys in a jeep around 10:30am pretending that he wanted to buy 7 iPhone 6s and 2 iPhone 7 mobile phones.

PorscheClassy Media gathered that Egbegbe went into the phone store ‘Kaalcech Innovations and Consultancy’, located on number 9 Medical Road, Computer Village, Ikeja and requested for nine iPhones.

He pretended to be ready for payment after the phones were delivered to him, only for him to allegedly abscond into the waiting jeep, which prompted the sales girl to scream for help.

The noise attracted sympathizers who gave Egbegbe hot chase. He was eventually caught before he could leave computer village.

The angry mob pounced on him and gave him the beating of his life before the store’s MD, Mr Kolawole Aleshinloye quickly informed the police who came and whisked him away to Area F Police station where he’s currently being detained.

Bureau De Change Operator Exchanges N1.7m With Fake Dollars

A bureau de change operator, Usman Nafada, has been arrested by the police for allegedly conniving with an accomplice at large to swindle one Abdullahi Uba out of N1.7m.

It was learnt the victim had approached Nafada on November 16, 2016, at the Obalende area of Lagos State to help him change the sum to dollars.

Nafada was said to have told Uba that he did not have hard currency for the exchange. He, however, reportedly collected the money from Uba and took it to his “partner.”

Quack Doctor Arrested After 11 Years' Practice

A quack doctor, Celestine Yolonfun,  has been arrested in the Apapa area of Lagos state after a pregnant woman, who was due for delivery, allegedly died in his hospital, and her husband reported the doctor to the police.

32-year-old Yolonfun had been practicing as a doctor since 2005 after he dropped out of a nursing school in the Benin Republic.

PUNCH Metro reports that Yolonfun was arrested on Wednesday at his hospital – Be Well Hospital – on Liverpool Road, Apapa, by operatives of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation
Department, Yaba.

9-Months Pregnant Woman Shot Three Times Survives

A pregnant woman in India was shot three times while she slept in an attempted honour killing - but she managed to survive and delivered the baby with the bullets still inside her.

According to Dailymail, Susheela Kumar, 27, from Mahavir Colony in Haryana, India, and her husband Pradip were attacked by gunmen as they slept at their home.

Pradip and his parents died instantly in the attack on Friday night.

Trump Outlines Initial Goals Of His Presidency On Youtube

President-elect Donald J. Trump on Monday released a two-and-a-half-minute infomercial-style video, turning to social media to deliver a direct-to-camera message in which he vowed to create jobs, renegotiate trade agreements, end restrictions on energy production and impose bans on lobbying.

Mr. Trump offered what he called an update on his transition, which he said was going “very smoothly, efficiently and effectively.” Reading from a script and looking into a camera, he steered clear of his most inflammatory campaign promises to deport immigrants and track Muslims and his pledge to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“Whether it’s producing steel, building cars or curing disease, I want the next generation of production and innovation to happen right here, in our great homeland: America — creating wealth and jobs for American workers,” Mr. Trump said in the video.

Football Club Manager Arrested For Raping His Male Players In Lagos

A  married football club manager, Frank Darlington,was arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly raping  three of his teenage players in the Agege area of the state.

Darlington, the manager of Soccer Warriors Football Academy, Pen Cinema, was arrested last Thursday by the Elere Police Division, after one of the victims reported him to the police.

The club manager, who hails from Imo State, allegedly took three footballers to his house on separate occasions after training sessions, and raped them.

PDP Working To Salvage Nigeria From Hunger – Makarfi

The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmed Makarfi, has said the former ruling party is working hard to salvage Nigeria from hunger.

Makarfi spoke at his meeting with former ministers produced by the party in Abuja on Monday.

The meeting was one of the moves being undertaking by the national caretaker committee since the party became factionalised.

Nigeria's Economy Sinks Deeper Into Recession - National Bureau of Statistics

Data released yesterday by the National Bureau of Statistics, signed by its Director-General, Dr. Yale, showed that the value of goods and services produced in Nigeria GDP, in the third quarter of 2016 contracted by 2.2 per cent in the three months through September from a year earlier, after shrinking 2.1 percent in the second quarter. Government revenue has also plunged and foreign currency has become scarcer with the decline of oil prices, the country’s main export, since mid-2014, and production fell as militants in the Niger Delta blew up pipelines.

Crude production fell for the fourth consecutive quarter to 1.63 million barrels per day, from 1.69 million barrels in the three months through June, the statistics office said.

The oil industry, the report said, contracted by 22 percent from a year earlier. The non-oil sector, which includes manufacturing, banking and agriculture, expanded 0.03 percent. Factory output contracted 4.4 percent, the third consecutive quarter of decline, and construction shrank 6.1 percent, the fifth straight quarterly contraction.
