Jonathan’s Aides, Abati, Obua, Others Stripped Of Passports
A competent source told Saturday Vanguard that the decision to withdraw the official passports of the former aides of Dr Jonathan was to prevent misuse and conflict with new aides and officials of President Muhammadu Buhari, who assumed duties on May 29, 2015.
It could not be established last night whether the affected officials were ordered by the Presidency to surrender the passports or whether they did so voluntarily.
But Saturday Vanguard learned that the affected former aides of Jonathan had already returned the passports to the Presidential Villa preparatory to being handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS.
Among those whose passports have been retrieved are former Special Adviser to the President on Media Reuben Abati; former Aide-de-Camp, Col. Ojogbane Adegbe and former Chief Security Officer, Gordon Obua, who is currently hospitalised over poor health arising from his recent incarceration by security agents.
Nine other key officials of the Jonathan Presidency who were also issued with official passports have also been stripped of the travel documents.
It was gathered that the former officials had been asked by the Presidency to relinquish their official passports to the Villa within a stipulated time-frame for onward return to the NIS, which issued them.

3. Reduce Salts and Sugars : I call this the instant slim, 4-5 days of cutting back (or completely) really makes for a visible change, there is something about it that causes you to hold less water and aids the face and stomach looking smaller, honestly give it a go and see what you think.
4. Sleep in Your Kit :This might sound gross to some or a ‘eureka’ to others, but if you really want to kick yourself into acting on your plans and stay motivated for that morning work out then being in your gear already one less excuse to give yourself and it also acts as a reminder.
5. Change your Mind Set : Personally, going to the gym at fixed times per week is nearly impossible as my diary changes so much, but having the mind set to burn energy at any time possible, and making small changes to a lifestyle can make a long term difference overall. From getting off the train a stop early, taking the stairs or running for the bus, each little mindset change gradually makes a difference.
6. Find inspiration: It is all around, from instagram, blogs, youtube, its everywhere. I like to take a look at realistic indivividuals who have great insight as well as workouts online. Man Buys SUV Just Hours After Stealing $150,000 ATM Workers Mistakenly Left Behind
Alton Harvey, 42, of Hillside, was arrested Wednesday after police traced a white van that was captured on surveillance video pulling up to the bag of cash that the ATM employees forgot outside a business in Mahwah, in northern New Jersey, on Monday. The video showed a passenger in the van grabbing the bag.
Police said the van was seen in another video pulling into a nearby auto repair business and pilfering used tires. After finding the van in Irvington, police arrested Harvey.
Harvey said he was driving the van and told detectives that a Chevrolet Tahoe was purchased with cash from the bag soon after it was grabbed. The SUV, which has a starting sticker price of $46,000, was parked near the van.
Detectives identified the passenger as Jamar Bludson, 35, of Newark. Police immediately issued a warrant for Bludson, who also is wanted for a probation violation.
Harvey was held on $125,000 bail, charged with theft of mislaid property. Investigators determined the ATM workers were not involved in the theft, the police said.

HIV Might Be Flushed Out By Cancer Drug
The cornerstone of treatment, anti-retroviral therapy, kills the virus in the bloodstream but leaves "HIV reservoirs" untouched.
The study, published in PLoS Pathogens, showed the drug was "highly potent" at reactivating hidden HIV.
Experts said the findings were interesting, but it was important to know if the drug was safe in patients.
- 'Kick and kill'
A strategy known as "kick and kill" is thought to be key to curing HIV - the kick would wake up the dormant HIV allowing the drugs to kill it.
The team at the UC Davis School of Medicine investigated PEP005 - one of the ingredients in a treatment to prevent cancer in sun-damaged skin.
They tested the drug in cells grown in the laboratory and in parts of the immune system taken from 13 people with HIV.
The report said "PEP005 is highly potent in reactivating latent HIV" and that the chemical represents "a new group of lead compounds for combating HIV".
One of the researchers, Dr Satya Dandekar, said: "We are excited to have identified an outstanding candidate for HIV reactivation and eradication that is already approved and is being used in patients.
"This molecule has great potential to advance into translational and clinical studies."
However, the drug has still not been tested in people who are HIV-positive.
Prof Sharon Lewin, from the University of Melbourne, said the results were "interesting" and marked an "important advance in finding new compounds that can activate latent HIV".
She told the BBC: "This study adds another family of drugs to test to potentially eliminate long-lived forms of HIV although much more work needs to be done to see if this works in patients.
"Although PEP005 is part of an FDA approved drug, it will first take some time to work out if it is safe to use in the setting of HIV."

Woman Kills Robber Who Attacked Her Home In Lagos
Punch Metro learnt that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 2am on Eyin Iga Street. Punch correspondent gathered that the robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates.
It was learnt that when the robbers got to Adenike’s apartment, there was a struggle during which one of the robbers, identified as Quadri Iginla, cut her with a knife. Adenike was said to have wrenched the knife from Iginla, and stabbed him in the stomach. The robbery suspect reportedly lost balance and fell off from the two-storey building.
Neighbours, who learnt of the robbery, were said to have alerted the police from the Adeniji Adele Division. The other suspected robbers reportedly escaped after the police got to the area.
The policemen were said to have rushed Iginla, who was unconscious, to the Lagos Island General Hospital, while Adenike was also taken by her family to a private hospital.
When our correspondent got to the area on Thursday, it was learnt that Iginla died in the hospital.
Speaking with Punch Metro, Adenike’s husband, who declined to give his name, said the robbers injured his wife in the hand with a knife, adding that there was a struggle during which Iginla was pushed off the building.
He said, “We cannot confirm the number of the robbers. They entered my apartment at about 2am. One of them injured my wife in the hand and there was a struggle. As this went on, other people called the police and a patrol van was sent to our street.
“The robbers quickly fled from the house. One of them, who had sustained a knife injury, fell off the staircases. The policemen took him to a hospital for treatment.”
A police source told our correspondent that Iginla was not attended to at the general hospital for lack of a vacant bed. He added that the robbery suspect died at a health center on the Adeniji Adele Road.
He said, “The police patrol team responded to a distress call on the street at about 2.30am. A male robbery suspect, Iginla, was found injured. The suspect and others, who are still at large, allegedly entered Adenike’s room. While making away with possessions, the woman overpowered one of them, and stabbed him in the stomach.
“She was also injured in the hand. During the struggle, others escaped, but the robber fell off the building. The police took the suspect and the victim to the hospital.”
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that Iginla’s girlfriend showed up at the police station, and wanted to know where he was being treated.
He said, “No one in the area knew the identity of the injured robber. His girlfriend showed up at the station, and was asking the police to let her stay with him, but they did not allow her.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, confirmed the incident. She added that the command was on the trail of other members of the gang.

PDP Broke, Plans To Sack 50% Of It's Workforce
The decision of the National Working Committee of the party was communicated by National Secretary of the party, Prof. Wale Oladipo to all its directors.
Oladipo made the party’s decision known via a memo dated July 29, 2015, which was directed to “all directors and PS/DD/HOD/SAs/PAs and Establishment Staff” of the party in Abuja.
It was titled “Re-organisation and restructuring of staff at the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
Oladipo said the decision to cut down on the number of staff and other measures were taken at the 406 meeting of the NWC, where he said the report “on the reorganisation and restructuring of staff at the national secretariat” and decisions was approved.
Apart from the reduction in the number of the staff on the payroll at the party’s headquarters, he said the salaries and allowances of those to be left behind would also be cut by as much as 50 per cent.
He listed the decisions to include “reduction of the allowance of all NWC members by 50 per cent and reduction in the number of security personnel attached to the national officers by 50 per cent.”
Other measures included “reduction of the salaries and allowances of all staff (Establishment and Staff of NWC members) by 50 per cent, effective August, 2015.
Oladipo added that “Establishment staff who would remain are required to obtain individual letter of revalidation from their state chapters within one month of this circular as to their suitability for service at the national secretariat.”
Before the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan, who was the presidential candidate of the party, by President Muhammadu Buhari, who was the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, the PDP was usually being funded by the Presidency.
Apart from this, it also got money from the state governors, majority of whom were unable to deliver their states to the party during the last elections.
The party also got money from selling of forms to aspirants. But a source within the party said the “party lacks transparency and proper accountability.”
Investigations by our correspondent indicated that the decision to reduce the staff strength of the party was taken about a month ago by its NWC.
The NWC was said to have been angered by the decision of the workers of the party to collect furniture allowance.Besides, the members of staff of the party were said to be privy to several withdrawal of money by the NWC members.
A senior staff of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity said,
“We are in trouble in this party. The NWC members are lords unto themselves.
“There is no one to control them and the finances of the party. They have paid themselves several allowances. Even during the last Sallah break, they took money.
“But because we demanded for our furniture allowance, see the memo they gave us. The idea behind this is to sack us and then they will bring in their cronies.”

Police Parades Soldier, 9 Others For Robbery, Kidnapping In Rivers State
An Army private, Elijah Owoh, who absconded from his duty post in Biu, Borno state was among the ten suspects arrested and paraded by Rivers Police command for robbery before Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, who paraded the nine other suspects before Governor Wike and the acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, and a cross section of journalists yesterday, at the Police Command Headquarters said the soldier shot and killed a male victim during a robbery operation.
“Owoh, during investigation confessed his involvement in a robbery incident in which a male victim was murdered around Eneka Farm road in Port Harcourt.
“He admitted being a Private with service number 12NA/68/7580-93 of 231 Battalion Biu, adding that, he fled the fight against Islamist sect, Boko Haram in North-East”.
Ezike said an AK 47 rifle with 90 rounds of ammunition in three magazines; a coloured Mercedes Benz car with fake registration number, Lagos MS 301 KJA, were recovered from the suspect.
The Rivers Police boss, also said police detectives trailed and arrested a gang of three armed men around Elekahia, Port Harcourt, who specialised in kidnapping and killing of their victims.
Ezike said the gang had on July 5, abducted one Friday Ozogo, who for inexplicable reasons killed and buried their victim in a shallow grave around Choba waterfront in the state.
“Unfortunately, despite their callous actions, the kidnappers continued to harass the victim’s family for ransom, and have collected over N500,000 before police tracked them down.
“The victim’s corpse has been exhumed and taken to the mortuary for autopsy while positive identification has been confirmed by the family,” he said.
The Commissioner said two locally made pistols and 7.62mm ammunitions were recovered from the suspects.
Similarly, Ezike said his men had apprehended a notorious kidnap kingpin (name withheld), while trying to collect ransom from relations of a Lawyer who was abducted on July 21 in Eleme, Rivers.
He said that through the arrest, the police rescued the kidnapped lawyer and arrested two other members of the gang which included a suspected witch doctor.
“During interrogation, the kidnappers revealed that they were contracted to execute the job for N1 million, and were given 20 per cent mobilization fees.”
According to Ezike, one locally made revolver with six rounds of ammunition was recovered from the suspects.
The police also paraded four women and two male teenagers for their alleged involvement and conspiracy in the theft of a seven-month old baby girl.
“The suspects confessed to have conspired and sneaked through a broken window at night and quietly stole the child at her parent’s home at Mile 2, Diobu, in Port Harcourt.
“The baby was taken to Nekede, in Imo state, and sold for N200, 000 to one Nkechi Anyanwu, 45, while two female accomplices of Anyanwu who resides in Owerri were equally arrested.
“The child’s mother, Mrs Rose Friday reported her child’s abduction from her residence at the Mile One Police station,” he said.
Ezike said that Police Mobile Force Personnel, Tactical Units and Special Detectives has been deployed to combat cultists, armed robbers and kidnappers terrorising residents in Eleme, Ubima, Aggah and Emohua communities.
Governor Wike in his reaction said government would take the fight to the hideouts of criminals and pre-empt them before they strike.
He assured that the Government would provide the police with logistical supports to enable them effectively fight crime in the state.
“This time, we are not going to wait for bad boys to continue to terrorise our people and the business community.
“It is important to take this war to wherever they are because we will no longer wait for them to strike before we go after them,” Wike said.

As for who Whitney designated ... mother Cissy and brothers Michael and Gary. The will also gives Bobby Brown a cut, but there's an issue. The will is worded to "my husband, Robert B. Brown." Obviously, the will was drafted before they divorced in 2007, and the issue is whether Bobby still qualifies since he is no longer her husband.
According to the law of New Jersey, where the will was drafted, Bobby will NOT get the money because being Whitney's husband is a qualifier which he no longer meets.

Precisely 59 days after President Muhammadu Buhari assumed power, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday listed many ‘sins’ the Federal Government under the President had committed and said Buhari’s government lacked direction.
Bobbi Kristina Brown Is Dead
She never regained consciousness to explain what happened before she was found Jan. 31, face down and unresponsive in her bathtub.
"It is hard to say goodbye. On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully," said a statement posted to Whitney Houston's Facebook page. "The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers. As Bobbi Kristina would say: 'The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face.' "
"She is finally at peace in the arms of God," the Houston family told USA TODAY in a statement. "We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."
She had spent the last months in two Atlanta hospitals, a medical rehab facility and a hospice, much of the time in an induced coma and on life support.
Her Houston family relatives announced last month that she had been transferred to hospice, a move usually reserved for end-of-life care.
"Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition has continued to deteriorate," said a statement signed by Pat Houston, Bobbi Kristina's aunt, the executor of Whitney's estate. "As of today, she has been moved into hospice care. We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God's hands now."
By the afternoon of June 25, police and media cars and vans were seen parked outside the hospice as her family, including father Bobby Brown and Pat Houston, gathered by her bedside.
Her death, coming three years after her mother's eerily similar demise, marks a double tragedy, one of the most heartbreaking of the celebrity world.
Krissi, as she was known, was found by her live-in boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and their friend Max Lomas, face down and unconscious in her bathtub at her Roswell, Ga., home.
Lisa Holland, a spokeswoman for the Roswell Police Department, said Brown was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation until rescuers arrived. A police statement said Gordon "started CPR and a police officer took over lifesaving measures until an ambulance arrived."
It is still not clear what happened to her or why. Police have been investigating the circumstances but have not announced their findings nor charged anyone with anything.
In late June, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said he had the police case file and was reviewing it with "greater interest" given the move to hospice.

As spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, my phones rang endlessly and became more than personal navigators within the social space. They defined my entire life; dusk to dawn, all year-round. The phones buzzed non-stop, my email was permanently active; my twitter account received tons of messages per second. The worst moments were those days when there was a Boko Haram attack virtually every Sunday.
The intrusion into my private life was total as my wife complained about her sleep being disrupted by phones that never seemed to stop ringing. Besides, whenever I was not checking or responding to the phones, I was busy online trying to find out if the APC had said something contrarian or some other fellow was up to any mischief. A media manager in the 21st century is a slave of the Breaking News, a slave particularly of the 24-hour news cycle, and a potential nervous breakdown case. Debo Adesina, my colleague at The Guardian once said I was running a “one week, one trouble schedule”. There were actually moments when trouble knocked on the door every hour, and duty required my team and I to respond to as many issues that came up.
Top of the task list was the management of phone calls related to the principal. In my first week on the job, for example, one of my phones ran out of battery and I had taken the liberty to charge it. While it was still in the off mode, the “Control Room”: the all-powerful communications centre at the State House tried to reach me. They had only just that phone number, so I couldn’t be reached. When eventually they did, the fellow at the other end was livid.
“SA Media, where are you? We have been trying to reach you. Mr President wants to speak with you”
“Sorry, I was charging my phone. The phone was off.”
“Sir, you can’t switch off your phone now. Mr President must be able to reach you at any time. You must always be available.” I was like: “really? Which kin job be dis?”
The Control Room eventually collected all my phone numbers. If I did not pick up a call on time, they called my wife. Sometimes the calls came directly from the Residence, as we referred to the President’s official quarters.
“Abati, Oga dey call you!”
If I still could not be reached, every phone that was ever connected to me would ring non-stop. Busy bodies who had just picked up the information that Abati was needed also often took it upon themselves to track me down. My wife soon got used to her being asked to produce me, or a car showing up to take me straight to the Residence. I eventually got used to it, and learnt to remain on duty round-the-clock. In due course, President Jonathan himself would call directly. My wife used to joke that each time there was a call from him, even if I was sleeping, I would spring to my feet and without listening to what he had to say, I would start with a barrage of “Yes sirs”! Other calls that could not be joked with were calls from my own office. Something could come up that would require coverage, or there could be a breaking story, or it could be something as harmless as office gossip, except that in the corridors of power, nothing is ever harmless. Looking back now, I still can’t figure out how I survived that onslaught of the terror of the telephone.
