Boko Haram Storms Village Funeral, Kills 24

Boko Haram insurgents on Thursday night attacked Kuda-Kaya village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state, killing 24 persons during a wake-keep service.

One resident, Abdul Ibrahim, who spoke to a Punch correspondent on Friday morning, said the insurgents came in their hundreds at about 10pm on Thursday shooting indiscriminately.

Apart from the dead, 10 persons also sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.


According to Ibrahim, 18 corpses were discovered on Thursday night after the insurgents had left the village while the remaining six corpses were extracted from the surrounding bushes on Friday morning.


He lamented that the majority of the persons killed were women and children, adding that those injured were rushed to Gulak Cottage Hospital for treatment – three kilometers away from the village.

Another resident, Jacob Gulak, said that more corpses might be retrieved from the bushes as search was still ongoing.
