Court Adjourns Saraki, Ekweremadu’s Case Till September

An FCT High Court, Jabi, has adjourned the alleged forgery trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and others till September 28, 2016.

The judge, Justice Halilu Yusuf, adjourned the matter because of the court’s annual vacations, which began on Monday. Other defendants were the immediate past Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa and his deputy, Benedict Efeturi.

Saraki and others were arraigned by the Federal Government on a two-count charge of conspiracy and forgery.

They were accused of forging the 2011 Senate Standing Order on June 9, 2015 and caused it to be used during the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly in 2015.

The offence contravened Section 97 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 364 of the same law.
